The dog’s coat is short and requires minimal grooming. This breed sheds, like other dogs, but it’s not as noticeable because the hair is short. In the spring, these dogs shed heavier. Typical signs of ear infection are head shaking and scratching the ears. Since the dogs preserve a very strong hunting instinct, they should not be left unsupervised when on a walk.

This is a small breed of hound with the appearance of a miniature foxhound. The true origin of the breed is rather vague. Packs of these dogs could have existed across Britain even before Roman times. The dogs were used as hunters and trackers in those times. The original purpose of the breed explains somewhat stubborn nature of these dogs. Being excellent hunters with keen sense of smell, these dogs are very intelligent and independent. They have a mind of their own and should be obedience trained in the early age.
