Picture of Baby Beagle

Beagles are loyal and friendly companions, and they are quite easy to care for, but like any other dogs, they require something more than just a Picture-of-Baby-Beagle attitude on the owner’s part. These dogs have strongly inherent and well developed hunting instincts, as they were initially meant to hunt wild game. Beagles are not very large and, consequently, not fast runners. However, their phenomenal sense of smell and stunning ability to pre-calculate the movements of quarry in the field puts them high above many speedy hunting dogs.

Beagles were officially recognized in the 1800s, although actually they have been around for much longer. The breed’s history goes back to 200 A. D. These dogs gained glory and popularity during the Elizabethan period. Those early Beagles were smaller than their modern descendants, and were often referred to as “glove Beagles”. The Beagle of today stands 11-16 inches high at the shoulder. It should be noted that the American Kennel Club (AKC) does not recognize dogs whose wither height exceeds 15 inches. There are two recognized types of the Beagle; dogs not exceeding 13 inches high at the shoulder and those measuring 13-15 inches high at the withers. In Europe, Beagles standing 16 inches tall at the shoulder are to be registered. People, who take particular interest in the Beagle breed, usually strive to obtain as much knowledge as possible on the breed’s past and its current condition. They study various printed and online articles, as well as Pictures of Baby Beagles and those of mature Beagles in order to successfully distinguish them from other hound dogs.

There are many reasons why people have a soft spot in their hearts for this particular breed. These dogs are not aggressive at all, and they are good with children and other pets. Beagles do not make great guardians, because they usually give a hearty welcome to newcomers. However, they are quite watchful and can warn their owners about guests approaching, sometimes using their melodic baying voice. Beagles are supposed to use this vocal characteristic when hunting to signal success, so that people know where to look for the trapped game. Beagles have a very endearing and pathetic appearance. Pictures of Baby Beagles that are readily available on many related websites often make people love this dog immediately.

Despite their cute appearance and merry disposition, Beagles are notoriously stubborn, and hence they are not always easy to train. Beagle breeders are well aware of this trait, and they always warn their clients, especially novice Beagle lovers, of possible difficulties. Their keen nose, being a salvation on a hunt, can be a sheer hindrance when it comes to training. Beagles show interest in every smell they can catch, so you must be on the watch-out when walking your dog outside of your fenced yard. Beagles should not be walked without a lead, because a smell can drive this dog away for good. In order to get your Beagle to do what he is supposed to do, you must first train him to give up scents on command. Training must be consistent and consecutive, no rough methods applied. Beagles do not respond to abusive training. As we can see, a momentary Picture-of-Baby-Beagle euphoria is no good reason to be in a hurry to purchase a Beagle puppy.
